SEMA
SHOW 2003
What
a year of car shows and what a way to end it but at
the SEMA show 2003.
If
you don't know the SEMA show is a trade only show
by the Specialty Equipment Market Association. In
SEMA's own words "Our members offer innovative
specialty equipment products and services that enhance
a vehicle's style, utility, and performance while
providing vehicle owners with an added sense of comfort,
convenience and enjoyment".
The
cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and other "motorized"
vehicles are there to showcase the vendors parts,
services, and technology. The fact that most people
will never get to see this many high quality vehicles
in one place at one time is a shame. We are very privileged
to be able to cover the show and share some of the
secrets with you.
Two
announcements that really sparked our interest were:
2004
Drifting Announcment. If you've never heard of Drifting
then you're going to soon. It's been big in Asia or
years now. The sport is completely different than
any motor sport. In all other racing sports if you
start to squeal the tires your losing traction and
losing time. That's where drifting is so different.
In drifting the driver's approach the corners at a
high rate of speed just like other racing sports but
at the last minute they pitch the car sideways and
"drift" for as long as they can. The whole
time they are applying the brake, shifting and on
and off the throttle. The sound and smoke is the most
awesome thing in the world. There's rubber flying
off the tires and engines revving to the redline.
The other cool thing is that the winner isn't the
fastest to the line. The drivers are judged on style
and control. Pretty cool.
TunerTransformation
TV show on SpeedChannel starting in February 2004.
This is going to be a wicked show. The whole idea
behind it is that you sign up and let the producers
of the show know what type of car you have. Then each
week they will pick one car and just show up on your
doorstep and you have to give them your keys! They
will then take your sport compact and turn it into
a true tuner performance car. We saw a preview of
the show and it looks like it's going to have great
professional tech's, cool cars, awesome show coverage
and lots of babes. If you want to see more information
on the show check out http://www.turnertransformation.com
